The Owls Under-18s are aiming to make it three wins on the spin this weekend.
Home victories over Nottingham Forest and Barnsley in their last two outings have left the academy youngsters in high spirits.
Having defeated Forest 3-1, the Owls continued on the winning trail last weekend with a 4-0 victory over local rivals Barnsley.
A third consecutive home fixture awaits this weekend as Wednesday host QPR and academy coach Steven Haslam said:
“I think we can reflect on a really positive start. We actually feel as though we should have more points because we controlled the first half on the opening day against Cardiff and should have been out of sight.
“Then we lost the Sheffield derby so late on but the response of the boys has been terrific and I feel there is much more to come from them.
“They are full of confidence, there is a good balance in the squad, we’re scoring a lot of goals and keeping it tight at the back.
“You look around the pitch and everyone is contributing. We’ve scored some cracking goals but the pleasing thing is we are scoring from all types of situations and from all over the field.
“Our strikers are scoring, we’ve seen the quality of Matt Penney’s goals and then we had Connor O’Grady pop up from defence with a goal last weekend, which is really pleasing.”
Haslam wants to maintain that good form on home soil this weekend with QPR in town and he continued:
“They will pose different questions so we will have to come up with the solutions.
“We want to be dominant at home and keep up the high standards we have set so far.”
The academy clash with the R’s will now kick off at 11.00am, as opposed to the original 12.30pm start, at Middlewood Road.
