Make our fans proud

Carlos Carvalhal believes Wednesday head into the Capital One Cup-tie with Stoke as underdogs but says his team will give everything to make the fans proud.

Two Premier League sides, in Newcastle and Arsenal, have already exited the competition at the hands of Wednesday.

Tuesday’s test away at The Britannia represents another huge test for the Owls and Carlos said:

“We are doing our best in all competitions, we know that when we play against teams from the Premier League they are of course the favourites.

“Stoke City have a fantastic team, they will play at home and have a lot of players in the national team.

“We will do our best with the small percentage that we have, we must hug that percentage and try to do our best in the 90 minutes, or extra time and penalties.

“We accept that they are favourites.”

Wednesday will be backed in their thousands at The Britannia Stadium having already sold the full allocation of 4,646.

The head coach added: “What we can promise is that we will fight, we will run and try to play good football.

“We want the fans that have followed us at the end of the game to be proud of us.”
