Obituary - Ivor Seemley

4 November 2014

Sheffield Wednesday are saddened to learn of the recent passing of former defender Ivor Seemley.

The left back, who was on the books at Hillsborough between 1946 and 1955, has died at the age of 85.

In total, he made 23 league and cup appearances and featured in every FA Cup fixture in 1954 as the Owls reached the semi final stage.

Ivor – from Shiregreen – went on to play for Stockport and Chesterfield but remained a big fan of Sheffield Wednesday.

Having watched his first game at Hillsborough in 1935 at six years of age, Ivor supported the Owls right to the end, and was here in S6 as recently as August for the home clash with Nottingham Forest.

Our thoughts are with Ivor’s family and friends at this very sad time.
