Gary Hooper is hoping his first goal for the Owls will lead to a prolific period for the experienced striker.

The 27-year-old fired home at Stadium:mk on Tuesday evening in Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to MK Dons.

Hooper – who is part of a unique club of strikers who has scored in each of the top four divisions in England as well as the Scottish Premier League – says he is here to score goals and looks forward to building on his maiden strike.

He said: “That’s important and that’s me off the mark. That’s what I want to do, I want to score goals. It’s what I’ve been brought here for.

“It’s always nice to get your first goal because it gives you confidence. But the main things now is Wolves on Sunday.

“We started to come on stronger in the second half and it was a nice assist from Ross, I took my first goal well but it wasn’t enough and we lost the game. We have to move on.

“I’ve got to keep my head down, keep training well and look forward to Wolves. It’s a home game and we are normally good at home so it’s a game to look forward to.”
