Sheffield Wednesday have signed Nigeria international Seyi Olofinjana from Hull City on an emergency loan deal.

The 32-year-old will remain with the Owls until the end of the season.

The towering midfield man began his career at Norwegian club Brann in 2003 after spells in his home nation with Crown FC and Kwara United.

Olofinjana moved to England in the summer of 2004 for £1.7m, joining Wolves under the guidance of current Owls boss Dave Jones.

He went on to make 147 appearances for the Molineux outfit, scoring 18 goals, and finished the 2006/07 campaign as the club’s top marksman with ten strikes.

Stoke City then moved to sign the 44-cap star in July 2008 for a fee of £3m and after one season at the Britannia Stadium, Olofinjana joined the Tigers in another £3m move in August 2009.

The midfielder powerhouse linked back up with Jones at Cardiff in the 2010/11 campaign when he spent the season on loan with the Bluebirds, making 42 appearances and scoring six goals before returning to the KC Stadium.

Olofinjana has been allocated shirt number 23 and is eligible to feature for the Owls on Saturday against local rivals Barnsley at Hillsborough.
