Daniel Pudil has enjoyed one of the most extraordinary weekends of his life.
Having become a father to baby Ella in the early hours of Saturday morning, the defender went on to pass a late fitness test and score his first goal for Wednesday.
Pudil’s goal helped the Owls on their way to a 3-1 win over Preston and he said:
“It’s one of the best weekends of my life. I didn’t know if I would be able to play the game.
“Everything was a bit of a rush. In the morning I went to hospital and I was there when my daughter was born.
“I went back to sleep for a couple of hours, in the morning I had the medical test at the training ground and I’m really happy I was able to play.”
Pudil doubled Wednesday’s lead ten minutes into the second period to put the Owls firmly in the driving seat and that feeling capped a memorable day for the defender.
“It was fantastic to score the goal and celebrate with the team and I will never forget this weekend. It has been amazing.”
