Over the moon

14 January 2016

Midfield ace Barry Bannan says he is over the moon after signing a new three and a half year deal with the club.

The 26-year-old has been in outstanding form during 2015/16 for the Owls since joining from Crystal Palace in August 2015.

Having initially signed a one-year deal at Hillsborough, Bannan has now put pen to paper on a long term contract and he told swfc.co.uk:

“Since I’ve come here it’s been brilliant and I’ve loved every minute of it.

“The fans have taken to me and I’ve enjoyed everything. The lads have been brilliant so it was never in doubt, it was just a matter of getting it signed and sealed.

“Today is the day and I’m over the moon.

“It was just a matter of when it was going to get done because I wanted to stay, the club wanted me to stay so it was always going to happen.”

The former Aston Villa man says he is playing with bags of confidence and puts that down to the head coach Carlos Carvalhal, his team mates and the supporters.

He continued: “The gaffer has shown great confidence in me and that helps when I go onto the pitch.

“I feel a big part of the team which enhances my confidence and it’s all clicked into place since I’ve been here.

“I think it’s that run of games that has helped, knowing that you are going to be involved every week but obviously you’ve got to go out and play well and I think I have done that.

“It’s unbelievable when you’re out there and you hear the fans singing your name.

“You think you can do anything because of the confidence they give to you, they have been unbelievable.

“Hopefully this will give them the good news they wanted.”
