The Owls have been dealt a blow with news that skipper Glenn Loovens will be missing for six to eight weeks.
Loovens suffered an injury in training that has revealed a fractured ankle.
Gray said: “It’s a blow, of course it is. Glenn has had a scan and it’s a fractured bone on the ankle.
“He’s wearing a boot now and we’re looking at six to eight weeks.
“But we had Kamil Zayatte who came in today and I thought he did really well.
“Kamil and Tom Lees complimented each other so we do have some depth.”
