Owls fans improve fitness thanks to get fit project

A community project aimed at getting inactive people to get in to sport and physical exercise is in full swing and this morning participants enjoyed the third week of the programme.

The 12-week course, named the ‘Steel City Fit Club’, is in full action and saw around 16 people take part in a two hour session at Hillsborough Stadium.

This morning, participants enjoyed fitness activities in the ground and incorporated the using the South Stand steps and concourse area for some of their exercises.



The session, priced at just £1, is split up into two sections, the first hour is dedicated to learning about nutrition and healthy lifestyles and the second hour focuses on exercise and movement.



The project is ran in conjunction with the club’s Community Programme, the Sheffield City Trust and the Sheffield United Community Foundation and has received £40,000 funding from Sport England and Sporta.

The sessions run on Tuesday’s from 10am – 12pm in the Sheridan Suite at Hillsborough Stadium.
