The run, which starts at 10.00am, will see participants run, walk or jog in their club colours, whilst having the opportunity to achieve sponsorship and swap shirts for the day.

Imre Varadi and Keith Edwards will be doing a question and answer session in the Rising Sun on Abbey Lane following the run.

With more than seven people a day in Sheffield alone receiving a new diagnosis, the need to ensure they do not have to face cancer alone has never been greater.

Last year, ex-Owls and England midfielder Carlton Palmer helped launch the run by leading participants around the route.

Taking place on Sunday 23 November, the route takes runners around Ecclesall Woods before completing a 10k all-round distance.

The run, now in its second year, hopes to build on last year’s success, which raised an impressive £18,000 for the cancer charity.

Club mascots Ozzie the Owl and Captain Blade are also asking supporters from across the city to pull on their running shoes to help raise awareness and funds for the organisation.

Owls skipper Glenn Loovens and Blades captain Michael Doyle took a special trip to the Cavendish Care Centre to show their support for the charity run.

Ex Wednesday stars, Mel Sterland and Imre Varadi will be starting the race with ex-united legend Keith Edwards.

Both clubs have each donated 50 tickets to their home games the following week for the first 50 runners/walkers that sign up. Any Owls fans that sign up could be in with the chance of winning a ticket to the home clash against Wigan on Saturday 30 November.

The Owls and the Blades are showing their support to the event, the Carlton Palmer 10k run, by encouraging supporters to get involved in raising vital funds for Sheffield-based charity, Cavendish Cancer Care.
