Owls launch Community Engagement Scheme

6 August 2015

Sheffield Wednesday are delighted to announce an innovative Community Engagement Scheme launched in time for the new 2015/16 Championship campaign.

Implemented to aid supporters without the resource to watch the Owls at Hillsborough on a regular basis, the scheme is understood to be the first of its kind in the country.

The ethos of the Community Engagement Scheme will see Wednesdayites nominate fellow fans whose personal circumstances prohibit the purchase of matchday tickets.

The scheme will work by supporters providing an outline story of their nomination by emailing: ces@swfc.co.uk with the nominee’s SWFC client ID and a contact number. Supporters can also nominate themselves providing the same information. A representative of the club will respond by return.

Chairman Dejphon Chansiri, who earlier pledged his full support to anyone unable to attend matches at Hillsborough, has set aside a significant financial sum to fund the ground-breaking project.

He said: “Right from when we put Early Bird Season Tickets on sale in February, we have examined in detail our ticket price structure.

“Season Tickets offer our supporters by far the best value for money, while the matchday pricing categories offer unprecedented flexibility.

“We then introduced Family Membership alongside our regular Membership packages, all of which have proved extremely popular.

“The next piece of the jigsaw is the Community Engagement Scheme, with which I hope any supporter who cannot afford to come to Hillsborough will engage.

“I genuinely want to hear the stories our supporters have to tell and as chairman of their club, my desire is to help them come to our games if they cannot afford to do so.

“In the short, medium and long term, I will continue to explore further strategies to ensure we have as many of our fans inside Hillsborough as possible.”
