Owls must profit in the final third

  • Sheffield Wednesday face Huddersfield on Saturday
  • Stuart Gray urges Owls to profit from good spells
  • Lewis McGugan available to feature

With Championship action back this weekend, Stuart Gray has stressed his side must profit from their good work on the field.

The Owls have failed to convert chances into goals in the run-up to the recent international break.

But with fresh legs and faces in the team and bodies out of the treatment room, Gray is confident Wednesday can do the business against Huddersfield on Saturday.

He told swfc.co.uk: “We know we have had opportunities to win games but haven’t killed teams off.

“We know we should be further up the league, we know we have thrown points away but that’s gone now and we can only focus on the next game.

“The most important thing is the Huddersfield game and I’ll be preparing my team to go and get those three points.

“We need to get that victory. It’s all about winning games, whether it be an ugly win, whether the ball bobbles in off Stevie May’s knee, we will take that at this moment in time.”

Team news is positive ahead of the clash with the Terriers as Lewis McGugan is in line to make his debut and Caolan Lavery could play a part after over three months on the sidelines.

Gray continued: “It will be a good atmosphere, they’re in good form at home and we’re strong away from home.

“Chris Powell has brought a few players in on loan but we don’t fear anybody.

“People are telling me we haven’t won in nine games but you can look at stats in different ways; I could say we have drawn six of those and lost just three.

“But winning breeds confidence and that’s what we need more than anything.”
