Owls on red alert

2 October 2015

Preston head into Saturday’s clash at Hillsborough without a win in six in all competitions but Carlos Carvalhal says his players will need maximum focus to register their fourth straight win.

Wednesday are favourites to continue their fine run of recent form but the head coach believes this can be a dangerous place to be.

Carvalhal says his players are on red alert for this next challenge against a Preston side in the bottom three and explained:

“This is the danger part of the game when everybody expects one thing.

“In this case, this is when surprises happen but we are working with our players to have them on red alert for this game because Preston have a good team.

“They have a dangerous team so we must play with the same spirit and teamwork that we did in the last games.”

Having won three on the spin over Fulham, Newcastle and Brentford, Carvalhal wants to see that same hunger, desire and work ethic that has served his side well in the recent period.

He continued: “We must play in the same style and enjoy the game.

“We need to do what we have been doing well and focus the players into the game. The most important game we have in the season is the next one.”
