Owls reveal Braga friendly

12 June 2013

Sheffield Wednesday can confirm a second pre-season friendly in Portugal next month against Portuguese outfit Braga.

The Owls will face the Premeira Liga side during the week-long training camp in Portugal on Tuesday 16 July.

The game will take place in Albufeira, although it is yet to be confirmed which one of three stadiums the fixture will be played.

A provisional kick-off time of 8.00pm is in place.

Braga finished fourth in the Portuguese top flight last term, qualifying to play in the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League play-off round in the process.

The club were competing on two fronts in 2012/13 after qualifying for the group stages of the Champions League for only the second time in their history.

Braga eliminated Italian side Udinese in the play-off round on penalties and competed in the group stage against Cluj, Galatasaray and Manchester United – the highlight of which was a 2-0 win over Galatasaray away from home.

The venue for the fixture in Albufeira will be confirmed in due course on the Owls’ official website, swfc.co.uk.

Four days after the friendly clash against Braga, Wednesday face Hull City at Estádio Municipal de Albufeira, on Saturday 20 July.
