Owls score Bartercard deal

28 June 2013

Sheffield Wednesday are delighted to announce that trade exchange market leaders Bartercard will sponsor the club’s away shirt for the 2013/14 Championship campaign.

The innovative partnership will see Bartercard take pride of place on Wednesday’s brand new strip for next season, which will be unveiled at the SWFC Owls in the Park community fun day this weekend.

The Bartercard model is a business-to-business trade exchange that operates completely outside the cash community.

The company houses a portfolio of around 55,000 members offering in excess of 10,000 different products and services for exchange in place of cash.

Established 22 years ago in Australia, Bartercard has operations across four continents.

Bartercard CEO Simon Barker said: “Bartercard is delighted to be the official away shirt sponsor of Sheffield Wednesday FC.

“We believe that Bartercard can significantly help to strengthen the club’s business model.

“In addition, the Bartercard product can benefit the vast majority of small medium enterprises that exist within the Sheffield Wednesday fan base.

“I wish the Owls every success for the 2013/14 campaign and look forward to watching the team in action, in particular, in their Bartercard away strip!”

The Owls’ Commercial Director Andy Daykin added: “The club are proud to be associated with a brand which is on the ascendency in the UK.

“The Bartercard ethos is based on generating new business for their clients and establishing mutually beneficial relationships in the long term, which we wholeheartedly support.

“We would like to thank Bartercard for their support and look forward to an exciting season together.

“On behalf of both companies, I would also like to thank Laura Miller, Managing Director of the Miller Sports Consultancy, for her initial assistance in the brokering of this partnership.”
