Owls star becomes patron of Norfolk Park School

30 January 2015

Owls midfielder Giles Coke has become the patron of children’s special needs school Norfolk Park and has visited the school to show his support.

Giles went along to visit children at the school and took time to have photos, sign autographs and join in with activities put on by the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme.

Norfolk Park School works to serve children with profound or severe learning difficulties, complex medical needs and autism.

Giles said: “Norfolk Park do a fantastic job and it has such a nice feeling about it. It was great to meet the children and the teachers at the school. I’m happy I have been able to go in and join in with their activities and it was a really rewarding meeting the children.

"I'm proud to become the patron for such a worthy cause and it’s a good feeling knowing your helping others.”

Steve Taylor, Community Manager at the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme, said: “We regularly work with Norfolk Park to provide them with workshops and sessions so it was great to get Giles involved in them too.

“All the children loved meeting him and we’d like to thank the school and Giles for making the special visit happen.”

Last year former Owl Reda Johnson generously donated £10,000 to the school which saw them buy much needed specialist equipment.

Giles is also the face of the club’s Futsal Education programme and regularly supports the work of the Community Programme.
