Owls star Chris Kirkland supports adoption week

5 November 2014

Sheffield Wednesday are proud to support a national week that helps raise the awareness for adoption and in particular, support adoption in the Barnsley area.

‘National Adoption Week’, 3 – 9 November, helps attempt to raise the need for more families to come forward to adopt. This year the awareness week is focussing on the need for people to come forward to adopt siblings.

Owls player Chris Kirkland is showing his support and is asking people to come forward to adopt if they can.

Michael Richardson, adoption team manager at Barnsley Council, said: “We’re really grateful to Sheffield Wednesday and Chris Kirkland for showing their support to adoption in the area and we hope with the support we can help get more children into loving homes.

“In Barnsley there are children coming up for adoption all the time and at the moment there are 19 children awaiting adoption.

He added: “The most important thing if you’re considering adopting is that you’re able to give a child a stable and loving home and lots of love, understanding and support through childhood into adulthood."

If you could offer a child a permanent, loving home and a better future, all you need to do is go along to an information evening or email adoption@barnsley.gov.uk
