Plenty to be proud of

30 May 2016

After a terrific campaign, defying the odds and surprising many along the way, Wednesday fell just short in the Championship play-off final but Glenn Loovens says there is plenty to be proud of.

Wednesday – backed by an unbelievable army of 40,000 supporters at Wembley – were defeated 1-0 by Hull and Loovens believes the Owls will take the experience on board and come back stronger.

The captain said: “It’s not nice how we are feeling right now but we have to move on and go into next season and make sure we don’t feel like this again.

“We’ve had a brilliant season, but in the end we’re empty handed. It’s hard to swallow but this is football.”

He continued: “But I want to say one thing, I am really proud of this team and how far we came and we will be ready to go again next season.

“The fans have been with us all season and I want to say thank you to them, we lost the game and they were still there right to the end.

“They are a true credit to this club and the whole world saw that at Wembley.

“They’ll be a big part of next season, that’s for sure.”
