A new stop smoking service has been launched in Sheffield this week, and Owls player Rafa Floro went along to show his support to the campaign to help smokers quit their way with tailored support.

Yorkshire Smokefree, which is run by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, offers quitters the chance to choose support in person, on the phone, or online using its innovative online support programme.

Floro, said: “I’m proud to support Yorkshire Smokefree in helping as many people in Sheffield to quit smoking as possible.

“Quitting smoking has so many benefits to your health including making it easier to breathe and seeing an increase in your energy levels.

“Staying fit and healthy is important to us players. By getting help from Yorkshire Smokefree, you increase your chances of quitting smoking and living a healthy life.”

Yorkshire Smokefree is also offering successful quitters the chance to win tickets to go to Sheffield Wednesday matches.

Anyone who sets a quit date between 15 September and 15 October and has successfully quit after four weeks will be entered into a prize draw to win two tickets for Sheffield Wednesday vs Wigan on Saturday 29 November or Sheffield Wednesday vs Wolves on Saturday 13 December.

Yorkshire Smokefree’s new online quit programme is available 24/7 from computers, phones and tablets, and allows users to create their own personal plans, set a quit date and chat online with qualified advisors.

Telephone support is also available seven days a week from qualified advisors who are on hand through extended opening hours to provide motivation and support either by phone or text.
