- Owls Under-21s win 2-0 at Hallam FC
- Goals from Dieseruvwe and trialist Samba
- Wednesday down to ten men with Dieseruvwe sent off on 72 minutes
The Owls Under-21s picked up their first win of pre-season at Sandygate on Monday evening, defeating Hallam FC 2-0.
First half goals from Mani Dieseruvwe and trialist Addy Samba sealed Wednesday’s victory.
The Owls played out the latter stages of the game with ten men after Dieseruvwe was given his marching orders, as the striker’s earlier yellow was upgraded to red on 72 minutes.
Wednesday edged in front midway through the first half when Glenn Law went down in the area under a clumsy challenge and Dieseruvwe converted the spot kick.
Moments before the interval, the visitors doubled their advantage as Paul Corry’s free fell for Samba, who beat his marker before rifling home a fierce left-footed drive.
Diesuervwe saw red for a second bookable offence after the break but the Owls remained untroubled to post their maiden win of pre-season.
