Full back signs three-year deal

Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Charlton defender Rhoys Wiggins for an undisclosed fee.

The highly-rated left back has penned a three-year deal at Hillsborough.

The 27-year-old is a product of the Crystal Palace youth system, where he rose up through the ranks and made one appearance before joining then League 2 side Bournemouth on loan in January 2009.

He made 13 appearances for the Cherries and at the end of the term joined Norwich City.

In January 2010, Wiggins re-joined Bournemouth on loan for a month and promptly extended after slotting back in on the South Coast seamlessly.

Another 19 appearances followed in his second spell as the defender contributed to a memorable season for Bournemouth, who were promoted back to League 1 with a second place finish.

The move to The Goldsands Stadium was made permanent ahead of the 2010/11 campaign, when Wiggins featured 40 times in all competitions and his impressive performances earned the full back a call-up to the Welsh national squad.

Wiggns signed for Charlton in summer 2011 ahead of the Addicks’ League 1 title-winning campaign and was hugely instrumental in their success, featuring 47 times for the South East London outfit.

He has since racked up 128 appearances for Charlton and now links up with Wednesday ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.

The defender will wear shirt number 16.
