Owls starlet Jack Stobbs was delighted to pen his maiden professional contract at the club ahead of Tuesday’s game with QPR.

The attacking midfielder, pictured here with academy coaches Max Wragg and Steven Haslam, has been with Wednesday since the tender age of eight years old and has shown the requisite ability and attitude to earn his stripes.

He said: “I am thrilled to sign a professional contract, it’s the proudest day of my life and a dream come true.

“I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped me become the player and person I am and mainly my mum and dad, who have given me so much support from such an early age.

“The guys at the academy have been absolutely brilliant with me as well. They have always drilled home the importance of showing the right attitude to help with your football and I have taken that advice on board.”

Stobbs has played for and excelled with the Development Squad this season having graduated through the academy ranks.

He cites the benefits of training and playing with elders as a key part of his development.

The teenager – who has committed to the Owls for the long term – added: “All you can do is learn from the more experienced players. They have been brilliant with me and I want to continue to learn and move up to the first team.

“That’s my goal and I hope to be there as soon as I can.”
