  • Gary Taylor-Fletcher looks forward to Owls loan stint
  • Striker says he is fit and ready to go
  • Owls loan opportunity excites Leicester striker

‘I’m feeling sharp and ready’ is the message from Gary Taylor-Fletcher as he begins his month-long loan spell with Wednesday.

The striker arrived on loan from Leicester City ahead of the Owls’ clash with Norwich on Saturday.

Now the 33-year-old wants to make the most of this opportunity at Hillsborough and is not about to let it go to waste.

He said: “I felt really good in pre-season and was performing very well. I played against Chelsea and in a cup-tie with Shrewsbury.

“I’ve played in a few Under-21 games too so I’m feeling sharp and ready. It’s up to Stuart how he wants to use me.”

Following his debut for the club against the Canaries on Saturday, the striker spoke of his eagerness to join up with the squad.

And there will be plenty of opportunity to impress over the coming weeks, starting on Saturday when Wednesday head back down south to the capital, to face Charlton.

Taylor-Fletcher added: “I want to play football. This deal was ideal for me and Wednesday. We both really wanted to get it done so I am made up.

“I worked with Stuart when I was on trial in the summer.

“He took a lot of the training then and I enjoyed it and there are still a lot of players who I know so that’s a good thing. That makes it easy to slot in when you know the boys.

“As soon as I knew Wednesday came back in for me, I was knocking on the door again.

“When you are sat in the stands watching, you want to be out playing. This has given me the opportunity to do that.”
