- More than £5,000 raised for local charities at Owls in the Park

- 15,000 supporters attended family fun day
More than £5,000 was raised for local charities at this year’s Sheffield Wednesday family fun day, Owls in the Park, and the organisations have thanked both the club and Owls fans for their generosity!
Members from four main benefitting charities - The Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, Support Dogs, Bluebell Wood and The Royal Society for the Blind visited the club’s training ground at Middlewood Road to say thank you to head coach Stuart Gray and SWFC for facilitating the fun day.
On the day, the charities ran various fun activities for Owls supporters to indulge and a massive figure in excess of £5,000 was collectively raised.
Additional charities that joined the main beneficiaries at Owls in the Park were The Eden Dora Trust, The Tropical Butterfly House and Diabetes UK.
The club are extremely proud to have been able to facilitate the charities in their fundraising appeals and would also like to issue a vote of thanks to Owls fans for their huge generosity and kindness.
The Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind held a unique teddy bear parachute at the family fun day where hundreds of teddy bears jumped from a crane to raise money for the charity.
The Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity hosted stalls with fun activities as well as selling merchandise, while Support Dogs held a special show on the day, with many dogs up for contention in different categories. The charity also ran demonstrations with their dogs in training to showcase the range of skills used to increase the independence of people affected by autism, epilepsy and physical disability.
Bluebell Wood, the SWFC Community Programme’s official charity partner, held various fun activities including a lucky dip, tombola and other games. The organisation also held an official bucket collection to raise funds for the charity.
Owls in the Park 2014 attracted thousands of Owls fans and Hillsborough Park was yet again a sea of blue and white. From everyone at Sheffield Wednesday, thank you again and see you next year!.
