Sheffield Wednesday sign Gary Taylor-Fletcher

25 October 2014

Sheffield Wednesday have signed striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher on a short term emergency loan.

Taylor-Fletcher joins the Owls from Premiership side Leicester City.

The frontman holds the distinctive record of having scored in all five divisions in England after breaking into the professional game from Northwich Victoria in 1999.

He went on to enjoy a loan spell with Hull before moving to Leyton Orient on a permanent transfer and further loans followed at Grays Athletic and Dagenham & Redbridge.

Taylor-Fletcher then joined Lincoln City and equalled a 106-year club record when he scored in each of the Imps’ first six games of the 2004/05 campaign.

Huddersfield Town was his next port of call, ahead of a switch to Blackpool, where he recorded the most productive form of his career.

Taylor-Fletcher was a popular performer in Lancashire, finding the net in the Seasiders’ Championship play-off final triumph over Cardiff in 2010 and then scoring their first ever goal in the Premier League.

The 33-year-old joined Leicester in September 2013.

He has made a career total of 441 senior starts, scoring 117 goals.

Taylor-Fletcher will wear shirt number 12 and is eligible for the Owls’ home clash with Norwich on Saturday.
