  • Will Keane made debut on Tuesday
  • Man Utd striker signed on loan
  • Keane sees positives so far

Will Keane enjoyed his maiden start for the Owls on Tuesday night and can see the foundations in place at Hillsborough.

The Manchester United loanee was thrust into action against Birmingham and impressed before being withdrawn with a cut above the eye 15 minutes from time.

He told swfc.co.uk: “It was frustrating having to go off. I got an accidental elbow near the eye and once you see that much blood, you have to come off the pitch these days.

“I will get it checked out again by the doctor tomorrow but he has told me I should be fine for Saturday.

“It was good for me to get some game time that is why I came here, to play and hopefully help the team.

“I thought we had the better chances on the night but Birmingham worked very hard to close us down.

“We had some good momentum but couldn’t quite break Birmingham down.”

Having trained and now played with his temporary team mates, the Old Trafford youngster has high hopes for his S6 stint, which runs to the end of the season.

He added: “We have some good players here, that is clear and a really good spirit. Obviously, we have to improve the results at home and use Hillsborough to our advantage.

“Away from home, the results have been very good. We have pace in the team, we can counter very well and hopefully we can get a good result against Reading on Saturday.”
