- Striker in fine form after hitting winner v Reading
Owls hitman Stevie May has said the squad now have their sights firmly set on Wednesday’s cup clash with Premier League champions Manchester City.
As Manchester City begin their defence of the League Cup title, new fan favourite May insists the Owls will give everything at the Etihad, with the odds stacked against an upset.
The striker said: “This game has been there for some time but now we can finally really look at it.
“It’s a big game for us and we’re not going into it thinking we are beaten already.
“Everyone will be desperate to play, we’ll work hard, stick to our jobs and yes, it’s one to look forward to.
“We know it’s going to be a tough, tough game but cup upsets do happen, we’ve seen it many times before.”
May will head into the City encounter in good spirits having hit his first Hillsborough goal on Saturday in the 1-0 win over Reading.
He continued: “The fans have been outstanding, they are loud and vocal and it was nice to score that goal in front of such a big crowd.
“The away support has been a credit to the club and that’s a big thing here, the fans are that good.”
