Stevie May on international duty

27 March 2015

Stevie May will be hoping to earn his second cap for Scotland during the current international break.

The striker was an unused substitute in the Scot’s 1-0 win over Northern Ireland in midweek but could play a part in Scotland’s crucial game on Sunday.

Gordon Strachan’s side face Gibraltar in a European Championship qualifier and the striker's fellow countryman and Owls coach Lee Bullen is keen to see May prosper on the international stage.

“It would be great to see Stevie add to his one cap,” Bullen said. “I would love to see him get his opportunity for the national team.

“We want our players to go away and be successful. It’s a sign of a good club when you’ve got players going off on international duty.

“But the big thing is you want them to come back fit."

May played his part in the Owls’ outstanding turnaround against Rotherham last weekend.

The striker was a livewire following his introduction from the bench and claimed an assist for the winning goal, with an improvised flick into Kieran Lee’s path.

Bullen added: “I thought he came on against Rotherham and looked really bright.

“He looked sharp in the short spell he was on the pitch.”
