Stuart Gray impressed with Hallam Hope

1 September 2014

  • Hope signed for the Owls on Friday
  • Striker came on from bench against Forest
  • Everton man out to impress at Hillsborough

With new loan recruit Hallam Hope having made his S6 bow, head coach Stuart Gray was impressed with the striker’s cameo role on Saturday.

Hope came on for the last five minutes of the Championship clash with Nottingham Forest and did enough in the short space of time remaining to show his promise.

Gray said: “I thought Hallam did well when he came on. He showed his power and strength and willingness to run at defenders.

“He’s had a good grounding and is not afraid to get out of his comfort zone, as he has shown with his previous loan spells at Northampton and Bury.

“We’re grateful to Everton for loaning him to us. They think this is the latest stage of his development and hopefully he will do well here.”

Gray went on to stress the importance of Hope putting pressure on those currently in possession of starting shirts.

He added: “He can play down the wing or down the middle and he will give is more options in the final third.

“It creates competition for places and keeps players on their toes.

“He is keen to come out on loan and do well and I admire that in a player.”
