Support Dogs host dog show at Owls in the Park!

Sheffield based charity Support Dogs will be appearing at Sheffield Wednesday’s Owls in the Park event this Sunday and will be hosting a special dog show which is set to be the biggest one yet!

The charity are now urging you to come along and bring your own dog for contention in the various categories including cutest pup, best trick and even the dog with the waggiest tail!

The event, that takes place at Hillsborough Park on Sunday 13 July, will see Support Dogs host the dog show along with various activities and games to raise awareness and vital funds for the charity. 

Support Dogs will also be running demonstrations with their dogs in training to showcase the range of skills used to increase the independence of people affected by autism, epilepsy and physical disability. 

The ‘Support Dogs’ Dog Show’ starts at 12:00pm with the first category, best biscuit catcher.

The other divisions run as follows: 

12.30 Judge the dog that would most like to be taken home- judged by the Lord Mayor 
13.00 Gorgeous golden oldie 
13.30 Best six Legs (Dog and owner)
14.00 Most radiant rescue 
14.30 Waggiest tail 
15.00 Cutest pup 
15.30 Best junior handler 
16.00 Best trick 
16.30 Eyes that melt your heart

The day, which is hosted by Sheffield Wednesday and sponsored by the Brooklyn Steakhouse, is now in its third year and expected to attract thousands of people to the event.

Along with appearances from Wednesday players, other activities include live music, a funfair, catering and fun games at various stalls around the park. The Owls’ mascots, Ozzie and Barney, will also make a special appearance!

Supporters will have the opportunity to get the autographs of their heroes and pose for photos – together with buying Season Tickets and official Memberships, which will be on sale on the day.

The Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme, the club’s charitable arm, will host various taster sessions and activities which will include a World Cup themed football tournament, inflatable pitches and a range of community stalls. 
 
Coaches from the programme will also deliver free of charge sessions in futsal, tennis, basketball and volleyball.

As well as Support Dogs, local children’s hospice, Bluebell Wood - the Community Programme’s official charity partner - will be holding an official bucket collection in a bid to raise much-needed funds for the organisation.

In addition, Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity and the Royal Society for the Blind will join the day with special activities and entertainment throughout what promises to be a fun-filled afternoon!

Owls in the Park 2014 is free to attend and takes place on Sunday 13 July, starting at 11.00am and finishing at 5:30pm.
