Both sides head into the weekend clash one point outside of the top six, locked on 47 points.
The Owls’ home form is playing a crucial role in this season’s push for promotion but in the second half of the campaign, Carlos Carvalhal believes Wednesday can improve on the road.
That process has perhaps already begun, with the Owls having taken four points from the last two games away from Hillsborough, with victory over Fulham and a draw at Reading.
Carlos said: “I don’t think it’s such a negative but we can do better.
“We are doing very, very well at home. Compared with what we are doing outside, we are doing better at home of course.
“We have our fans, the power of Hillsborough and we have a strong energy on our pitch.
“If you do the balance between games inside and games outside and we are in seventh position and I think this is not bad. We can do better.
“We are not alone in this competition and it is very hard. What we are talking about here with us happens to other clubs also. That is the reality of the division.”
Six weeks ago, the Owls head coach says Wednesday produced one of their best performances of the season when they defeated Birmingham 3-0 on Boxing Day.
And the aim is to come away from St Andrew's with the same points return this weekend, as he explained:
“We focus on the next game, it will be a tough game. We probably did our best performance of the season against them a few weeks before.
“We win 3-0 in that moment and really played very well but we know this one will be very difficult.
“The numbers show we are equal and we will do our best to do a good game and fight for the three points.”
