Today's charity partner - Bluebell Wood

30 August 2014

Today’s charity partner is Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, a charity that supports local children who don’t live as long as they should.

Bluebell Wood, who are also the club’s community programme’s nominated charity, care for local children who won’t live into adulthood. Whether their life journey together is days, weeks, months or years, Bluebell Wood are there to support the whole family during the hardest times they will ever have to face.

For the third season running press reporters in Sheffield Wednesday’s press room will donate to the charity in exchange for refreshments before and during the game.

The charity also had a stall at the club’s family dun day, Owls in the Park this year where they raised £593.

Julie Hampson, fundraiser for Bluebell Wood, said: “We’re so grateful to Sheffield Wednesday for their ongoing support for Bluebell Wood and we can’t thank them enough for making us their charity partner at today’s game.

“We rely on donations from our local community and every penny really counts to make a difference to the hundreds of young people we care for every year.

“We’re overwhelmed with the support from Sheffield Wednesday and their fans. The club is so generous and supporting and we look forward to working with them over the next season.”
