Tough test on Hillsborough horizon

19 August 2014

  • Owls' head coach expecting hard game at Hillsborough
  • Visitors Millwall have posted six points from two games
  • But Wednesday in form too ahead of S6 clash

Stuart Gray is expecting a tough test when Millwall visit Hillsborough on Tuesday evening.

The Lions have posted maximum points from their first two games of the season, with Capital One Cup success along the way.

Leeds and Fulham were put to the sword in the Championship, while Wycombe exited the League Cup at the hands of the in-form Londoners.

And Gray says his side must be right on top of their game to extend their own promising pedigree that has yielded four points from six and a cup conquest to boot:

“This will be a hard game, there is no doubt about that.

“Millwall have surprised people. They got a fantastic win at Fulham on Saturday so they will be very confident.

“Something has to give because we are in good form ourselves.”

Gray has hailed the work ethic of his Owls side, a fundamental facet the head coach insists upon as a starting point.

He added: “If you put the hard yards in you will get the rewards.

“The players are working hard for each other, you can see that as a team and as a group.

“The rest will follow if you have that as a foundation.

“We have set the standard now and we have to build on it, week in, week out.”
