Waddle to feature in charity event

30 September 2015

Legends of football are set to take part in a charity football match to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK this coming weekend.

Former Wednesday great Chris Waddle will bring together a team of former international and Premier League stars, including fellow ex-Owls John Sheridan and David Hirst, to take on a Hallam FC XI in support of ‘Men United’.

The event will be staged at Hallam's Sandygate Stadium on Sunday, with a 2.00pm kick-off.

The match is in aid of Prostate Cancer UK, who are fighting the most common cancer in men.

Waddle said: “It is all about raising awareness of Prostate Cancer. There are a lot of people in the world who have got it. I would think most people know someone who has had it.

“For things to improve, they need more funds. We have the Men United badges which people can buy on the day.

“We are just looking to contribute in any way we can. Hopefully this will go towards saving lives or stopping people developing Prostate Cancer.

“We are going to wear Prostate Cancer UK on our kit and the shirts will be auctioned off.

“We are asking all Wednesday, Sheffield United and neutral fans to come along and enjoy the match.”

Match tickets are priced at £5 and you can add a donation by CLICKING HERE or by texting PCUK93 £1, £2, £5 or £10 to 70070.

The 1860 Suite and bar will also be open at Sandygate on the day serving food and drink.
