We created this moment

29 April 2016

Irrespective of the outcome of the 2015/16 campaign, it has without doubt been one of vast progress for Sheffield Wednesday.

This weekend could prove extremely significant as the Owls know a point from the clash with Cardiff at Hillsborough is enough to secure a play-off spot.

Carlos Carvalhal says Wednesday will go into the game as normal, relaxed, under no pressure and will do what has led them to much success so far this term.

“We created this moment, nobody gave it to us,” the head coach said. “This is why we are in football to play in these kind of games.

“We have been talking since the beginning that we are outsiders in the competition to finish in top six position.

“We are doing one of the best seasons of the past 15 years, as I read this week, but not just with the scores, but with the quality of our football and our fans are enjoying a lot this season.

“Supporters are telling me it is the best football they have seen from the club so this is something we have achieved.

“We are still in sixth position after Saturday and that is a fact. A good fact. About this game, we don’t want to change anything because we don’t have reason to.”

The Owls have lost just two of their previous 22 league fixtures on home soil.

With one defeat in their last nine appearances, Carlos says his players feel no pressure heading into the crunch clash with the Bluebirds and continued:

“We will play our football, we don’t feel pressure, we are not under pressure and we will play our football as normal.

“We respect Cardiff, they have a good team and a good coach but it will be a tough game to the both sides. Our team is very dangerous.

“With what we are doing this season, I think we deserve the respect of all our opponents.

“We will fight to the three points because it is what we have done all of the season.”
