Carlos Carvalhal believed the Owls got what they deserved as they beat Premier League giants Arsenal at Hillsborough in the Capital One Cup.
Wednesday convincingly beat the Gunners 3-0 after goals from Ross Wallace, Lucas Joao and Sam Hutchinson.
Carvalhal said: “We got exactly what we deserved tonight as the players worked incredibly hard.
“They did everything that I asked of them before the game which was very pleasing, and they deserve all of the credit.
“Arsenal had international players like Cech, Debuchy and Mertesacker in their starting line-up, and we were still the better team on the night.”
The Owls now face Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and Carvalhal says it’s important that the team stays focused.
The head coach added: “The reason we won this game is because of our work rate, but also because of our quality.
“For this run to continue we need to keep our feet on the ground and understand why we are winning games, as we can learn from wins just as much as losses.”
