We have to be better

20 December 2014

  • Wednesday lost 4-0 at Fulham
  • We must improve says Gray
  • Fulham instinct decides the points

Stuart Gray looked back on the 4-0 reverse at Fulham and rued the fact that Wednesday failed to make their significant share of possession count.

The Cottagers displayed a ruthlessness in front of goal the Owls lacked, which was exacerbated by the way in which the game panned out.

For all the visitors’ dominance of play at times, it was that all-important touch in front of goal that ultimately decided the destination of the points.

And Gray said: “I lost count of the number of times the ball flashed across the six-yard box and we have to be better in terms of getting on the end of these balls.

“We have to see someone willing to put their body on the line in those kind of situations.

“I’m standing here and wondering how we have lost that game 4-0 but when you give a side like Fulham the chances we did, you can expect to be punished.

“We didn’t really work the goalkeeper and that has got to change.”
