Sheffield Wednesday will kick off their pre-season campaign with a trip to League Two side York City.
The Owls will begin their bout of warm-up games against the Minstermen at Bootham Crescent on Saturday 12 July, 3.00pm.
Under the guidance of ex-Owl Nigel Worthington, York enjoyed a stunning turnaround during the second half of the 2013/14 season and rose from relegation candidates to play-off semi finalists.
York were edged out in the League Two play-offs over two legs by Fleetwood Town.
Ticket details for the friendly will be announced in due course.
Wednesday’s pre-season schedule is now as follows:
Saturday 12 July: York v Owls (3.00pm)
Friday 18 July: Bury v Owls (7.45pm)
Sunday 27 July: Doncaster v Owls (2.00pm)
Wednesday 30 July: Owls v Newcastle (7.45pm)
Saturday 2 August: Barnsley v Owls (1.00pm)
