Young Owl enjoying attacking role

29 January 2015

Under-18s top scorer Mason Duffy says he is high on confidence in front of goal.

The 16-year-old has scored seven league goals this season for the Owls Under-18s.

The forward has also made a number of appearances for the SWFC Development Squad.

Duffy says he is thriving under the pressure that Under-18 football brings and is enjoying his football with Wednesday.

"I feel like I'm expected to score more with every goal,” he told swfc.co.uk.

“It's pressurising but, at the same time, when I score it gives me more confidence to go and score again in the next game.”

Duffy has negotiated the step up to Under-18 level and relishes competing against players in older age groups.

He added: "It's a lot more physical. Most players are nearly two years older than me but I am always trying my hardest to score goals and help the team.

"I feel I've improved throughout the season, especially with running at players and trying to create opportunities for others and myself.”
