SWFC awarded two ticks by Jobcentre
Sheffield Wednesday Football Club has been awarded the disability symbol by Jobcentre Plus for its continued work in meeting five commitments regarding the recruitment, employment, retention and career development of disabled people.
By using the two ticks symbol, Sheffield Wednesday aims to make it clear that disabled people are welcome to apply for positions at the club. It will also show existing employees that their contribution is valued and they will be treated fairly should they become disabled.
As a holder of the symbol, the club agrees to:
• Interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and consider them on their abilities.
• Ensure there is a mechanism in place to discuss, at any time, but at least once a year, with disabled employees what can be done to make sure they can develop and use their abilities.
• Make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they star in employment.
• Take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make these commitments work
• Each year, review the five commitments and what has been achieved, plan ways to improve on them and let employees and Jobcentre Plus know about progress and future plans.
Sheffield Wednesday's CSR manager, Spencer Taylor, said: "It is great that the club has been awarded the use of the Disability Symbol by Jobcentre Plus.
"This award shows the club is dedicated to providing a working environment that caters for disabled employees and also welcomes disabled users of our facilities. Sheffield Wednesday is pleased to be seen as an employer that is positive about disabled people in the workplace."
