Sheffield Wednesday has provided two local residents with an exciting employment and training opportunity thanks to the Government's Future Jobs Fund.
The successful new recruits are Craig Brammer, from Hillsborough, and Jordan Barnes, from Pitsmoor, who have been offered positions as social inclusion assistants with the club's Community Programme through the initiative.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) scheme aims to create jobs for 18 to 24-year-olds who have been out of work for nearly a year to deliver real benefits to communities.
It was announced by Government that from January this year everyone between these ages who had been looking for work for more than six months would be offered the chance of a job, work experience or training last at least six months.
A grant of £1.3m has recently been provided to The Football League Trust from the DWP to help create new roles in football clubs in areas such as coaching, marketing and administration.
The new coaches have both been given six month contracts with the club and will be assisting social inclusion officer, Matt Bray, on various community projects across Sheffield, including football camps, schools visits and health awareness drives.
Matt Bray said: "The Community Programme is very pleased to welcome Craig and Jordon into our team. This is a great opportunity for them get back into the routine of work and learn some new skills which will help them build a future career in sport."
New employee, Jordon, said: "I am already enjoying working for the club and am looking forward to be being part of the team and continuing our work in the local community."
