SWFC students celebrate success
Students taking part in Sheffield Wednesday's latest learning initiative have scored success after completing a crucial part of their course.
The local teenagers, who are enrolled on SWFC Community Programme's Apprenticeship in Sports Leadership, were presented with certificates for successfully completing the Child Welfare & Emergency First Aid segment of the scheme.
Dan Potts, the club's community education development manager, said: "I am delighted to see our students, who have worked extremely hard, receiving their certificates in Child Welfare and Emergency First Aid. The course has been a big success and I hope it continues to go from strength to strength."
The 26-week course, which is organised in partnership with Luis Michael Training and Sparsholt College, offers anyone aged 16, 17 and 18 not currently in full-time education the opportunity to gain a sports based qualification.
Everyone completing the course will have achieved an NVQ Level 2 in activity leadership as well as gaining valuable experience assisting the Community Programme's coaches with initiatives such as half term soccer camps.
The Community Programme now has two courses underway and has future places available on the scheme.
Corporate social responsibility manager, Spencer Taylor, said: "If you are interested in developing your skills and knowledge in the sports industry then the Apprenticeship in Sports Leadership is definitely for you.
"This training is a great opportunity for a new generation of young people to gain a series of qualifications that will help them forge a future career in sport."
