Posted on: Thu 29 Jul 2010

This summer holidays local kids have experienced a shopping trip with a difference as Sheffield Wednesday joined forces with Hallam FM to offer soccer sessions in Meadowhall.

As part of the radio station's Talent Academy scheme, fully qualified coaches from the club's Community Programme delivered sessions at hourly intervals ensuring kids from the ages of 6-10 not only have fun, but also improve on their football skills and general fitness.

Sheffield Wednesday's community officer Steve Taylor said: "It has been absolutely great to take our training sessions to a new location, enabling us to reach a greater range of children.

"The sessions also allow youngsters who may not have considered coming to one of Sheffield Wednesday's soccer camps to experience what we have to offer."

Hallam FM's Talent Academy is running for a 5 week period over the summer holidays and brings together the best creative professionals around to host fun-filled workshops on everything from music, dance, acting, martial arts and fashion.

Other activities taking place this week, dubbed 'Sport week', include martial arts experts Strike who shot to fame on Britain's Got Talent, an introductory course to circuit training and the SheffieldEagles teaching the basics in Rugby.
