There are only three days left for your school to kick off its campaign to win a once in a lifetime trip to South Africa by entering the Sheffield Schools Africa Cup.
The football tournament organised by Sheffield Wednesday, in partnership with PUMA, is open to pupils in years 5 and 6 who put together an 8-a-side team of boys and girls to compete for the prize. The closing date for school's to register is Friday December 4.
Every school that enters will receive free Sheffield Wednesday training sessions, with the winning team being flown out to South Africa to enjoy the flavour of next year's World Cup.
Sheffield Wednesday Chairman Lee Strafford said: "The Sheffield Schools Africa Cup is not only offering youngsters the chance to compete for the very special prize of a trip to South Africa, but is also a fun way for them to keep active.
"I would like to encourage all local primary schools to get a team together to take part in the tournament and enjoy the free training sessions available to all who enter."
The club is asking schools to get creative in order to reach the qualifying rounds of the competition and put together a three-minute digital presentation telling us why Sheffield is the best city to host games for the 2018 World Cup. The closing date for schools to submit their videos is December 18.
A judging panel, which includes representatives from Sheffield Wednesday, PUMA, the Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA, housing group Great Places, Sheffield Theatres and The Children's Hospital Charity will pick out the 32 schools that produce the best videos.
Mirroring the FIFA World Cup, the 32 finalists will be invited to compete on the pitch for the main prize. Each school will represent a country in the competition, which will be staged at Sheffield Wednesday's training ground on Middlewood Road before the final 16, coming from the top two teams in each group, progress to the final at Hillsborough Stadium in May 2010.
All youngsters who make the final will receive six weeks of free Sheffield Wednesday training as well as being provided with kit, bags and balls from PUMA.
