Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws was pleased to come away with a point from Coventry City on Saturday despite dropping back into the bottom three as a result of Leicester's win at West Bromwich Albion.

With games in hand on a number of clubs above the Owls, Laws remains confident on his team's chances of survival having picked up seven points from the last three games.

"We certainly did not play the kind of football I would have liked to have seen today but I thought it was more important that we didn't lose," Laws said. "Under the circumstances that we are in we need to catch other teams and Coventry are one of those teams we have to aim to catch. The onus was on them to win the game but I thought we set our stall out and defended well.

"We limited them to long shots but I must admit that Lee Grant pulled off two great saves in the second half. All in all it is another step forward in our bid for survival and that is an important point."

Laws continued: "It is another clean sheet and our defence has been excellent in the second half of the season. Unfortunately they have not done quite as well up front but today was another massive game.

"We have been down the bottom all season so we are used to the pressure and we need to stay blinkered and stay focussed with every game that goes by," the Owls boss concluded.
