Owls boss Brian Laws is targeting two victories to keep his side in the Championship after drawing a fifth consecutive match at Scunthorpe United on Saturday afternoon.

Wednesday went behind to a long-range Ian Morris strike on 18 minutes in cold, windy conditions at Glanford Park but drew level shortly after half time thanks to Ben Sahar's finish from close range following a free kick.

The Owls looked like they might go on to grab a precious winner but it was not to be and Laws was left looking for two wins from the remaining five matches to maintain Championship status.

"I think if we get two wins it will secure our place in the league and we need to turn our draws into wins, it's the only way we are going to get out of this," Laws said.

"Today's result will go down as points dropped for both clubs considering the position we are in. We wanted to win but the conditions didn't really help us today. You could see in the first half that the goal we conceded was wind assisted but if you don't shoot you don't score."

"We were much better in the second half than the first half and started to take control of the game, Scunthorpe couldn't get out of their half and we penetrated but that final ball wasn't quite where we wanted it to be.

"We passed the ball better in the second half and we thought that if we got the equaliser Scunthorpe would drop and drop. They did that but we just couldn't get a second to give us the three points."

Laws had to make eleventh hour changes to his team with teenage defender Mark Beevers pulling out due to a knee complaint. Peter Gilbert was drafted in at left back with Tommy Spurr switching to centre back.

"We were a little bit shaky as Mark Beevers had to be withdrawn from the team sheet during the warm-up but credit where credit is due because Tommy Spurr did very well at centre half, coming in from left back as he had not played in that position for a while," Laws said.

Commenting on his former club, whose chances of staying up now look very thin indeed, Laws added: "I think they will have to win all of their games to stay up so today's result won't have helped them, it has done them more harm than good. I would like to see both teams stay up but if it's going to be just one then it has to be Sheffield Wednesday."
