Time for revenge
Brian Laws has called on his players to avenge their heavy defeat at Plymouth earlier this month when the Pilgrims visit Hillsborough tonight.
Paul Sturrock's side meted out a 4-0 thumping on the south coast just over three weeks ago, thus the Owls have a quickfire opportunity to restore pride in these parts this evening.
Laws said: "I want to put that result right tonight. No way was that a 4-0 defeat at Home Park, bad defending on the day cost us dearly and I will be saying to the players, eradicate that and you will have a great chance of winning the game and sending Plymouth home with nothing."
Laws concurred with the widely held belief that Wednesday will be pleased to get back on home soil following their abject form on the road this season.
The Owls have conceded only twice at Hillsborough in six outings, figures that contrast wildly to 21 goals from seven games away from home.
But the manager does not wish to be dwell too much on the team's converse fortunes in and out of base.
He said: "While I'm relieved to be back at home, I don't want to be drawn into many arguments over our home and away form because there's a danger it could become psychological.
"Ipswich had a real problem last season and I don't want to go down that road. I know we have the mentality but not the consistency.
"I just can't put the same side out two games in a row. It's not resting players, it's not any kind of rotational system, these changes are forced upon me.
"We win one week and lose the next and until I can put out a settled side week in week out, there is a danger we might stay on this rollercoaster."
