We got what we deserved says gaffer

Owls boss Brian Laws believes Wednesday got what they deserved with three points against Norwich City on Saturday.

The win at Carrow Road ended a run of three consecutive draws against Preston, Watford and Swansea, all of which the Wednesday boss feels could have been won but Laws is pleased to get back to winning ways.

He said: "If you look at our last three away performances we've been exceptionally good and deserved to win all of them and that's certainly my opinion based on the way we have performed.

"Today was no different, first half we dominated, passed the ball and moved it well. Our strikers were causing them all sorts of problems with excellent link-up play and that sends a message out that we are not switching off.

"We have been so unlucky to draw our last three games because we have played exceptionally well and not got our just rewards but today we were very good."

On strugglers Norwich, Laws is all too aware of the challenges that face Bryan Gunn's men, who are in the midst of a relegation battle. David Mooney looked to have drawn his side level late in the game but the referee disallowed the goal for a foul on Lee Grant, adding to the Canaries' woes.

He continued: "Norwich are in a difficult situation, it mentally drains you and I know exactly how they feel because you end up looking for scraps and the fluency isn't there. I do hope they stay up because they are a fantastic club and should be in the Championship.

"We were fortunate the goal was ruled out but we had the bit of luck and I'm sure if you have a closer look it might be a bit of an unfortunate decision for them.

"Referees tend to lean on the goalkeeper's side if he gets blocked off but the combination of referee and linesman have made the decision. We had a bit of luck on our side but overall I don't think anybody would disagree we deserved to get the three points."
