Brian Laws is seeking a positive response from his players following the Owls' dismal Easter return.

Wednesday suffered back to back defeats against Derby and QPR, the second of which was particularly galling as the Owls squandered a two-goal lead in the capital.

As a result, Laws is looking for his players to right some wrongs when his side host struggling Southampton on Saturday.

He said: "It's all about Saturday's game now and I think the players will respond in the right manner. We have lost our last two games and I believe it was down to poor decision making.

"Southampton are in the bottom three and fighting for their lives, draws are no good to them. They're going to come at us.

"If they come with that attitude then it's going to be an open game. But if we defend like we did against QPR, we're in for a tough afternoon."

Laws faces a selection headache with a number of players competing for starting shirts, particularly in defence.

Frank Simek is pushing for a first team recall after missing out at Loftus Road, while Mark Beevers - who came on for the second half against QPR - will also fancy his chances.

Elsewhere, loanee Luke Varney is set to lead the line in what will be his final game for Wednesday before returning to parent club Derby.
