Wednesday manager Brian Laws felt his side should have come away with three points from Ashton Gate, highlighting numerous opportunities missed in the game.

Pleased with Darren Potter's late free kick that gave the Owls a point, Laws felt it was the least his side deserved after creating the better chances in the game and enjoying the lion's share of possession.

He said: "I am little disappointed because I thought we had the chances to win the game. We could have had five or six in the end.

"But there was some hard work going on out there so you have to give the players credit because mentally, it's easy to switch off."

Laws continued: "I think we tried to walk the ball in at times rather than hit the target. Leon Clarke could have almost had a Burnley on his hands.

"He was forever getting in the great positions but never pulling the trigger, where he did against Burnley and scored two goals and he could have had a fair few today."

The equaliser looked to have evaded Wednesday with just minutes left on the clock, but Potter's curling free kick on 88 minutes found its way past Adriano Basso, who had kept Bristol City in the game on a number of occasions.

"He's placed it into the back of the net and that was a bit of quality on his behalf," Laws said. "It was a great finish and I was pleased for them because it was probably our last opportunity to get a goal.

"Their keeper had pulled off some great saves but thankfully we got that goal and we don't go away too disappointed."
